The Bihar Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Act, 2016
AN
ACT
TO AMEND THE BIHAR PANCHAYAT RAJ ACT, 2006 (BIHAR ACT 6, 2006)
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bi har in the Sixty Seventh year of the
Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Bihar
Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Act, 2016.

(2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of B ihar excepting the areas to which the
provisions of the Bihar Municipal Act, 2007 (Bihar Act No. 11 of 2007) or Cantonment Act, 1924
(Act II of 1924) apply.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment in Section 136 of the Bihar Act 6, 2006.— The Clause (k) after Clause (j)
of Sub-Section (1) of Section 136 of the said Act 2006, is hereby deleted.
3. Repeal and Savings.— (1) Bihar Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016 (Bihar
Ordinance No. 2, 2016) is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken in exercise of any power
conferred by or under the said Ordinance shall be d eemed to have been done or taken in excercise of
the powers conferred by or under this Act as if thi s Act was come into force on the day on which
such thing was done or action taken
.
