THE ASSAM DON BOSCO UNIVERSITY ACT, 2009  
AN
ACT
to establish a Private University under the name and 
style “The Assam Don Bosco University” under 
section 6 of the Assam Private University Act, 2007.
Preamble
Short title, 
extent and 
commencement
Establishment 
of the Assam Don 
Bosco University
Whereas it is expedient to establish a Private 
University under the name and style “The Assam Bosco 
Don University” under section 6 of the Assam Private 
Universities Act, 2007 and for matters connected 
Therewith or incidental thereto.
It is hereby enacted in the Sixtieth Year of the 
Republic of India as follows:-

1. (1) This Act. may be called the Assam Don Bosco University 
Act 2009.
(2) It extends to the whole of Assam
(3) It shall come into force at once.
2. (1) For furthering the advancement of learning and 
prosecution of higher education and research, there 
shall be established a Private University under the 
name and style “The Assam Don Bosco University” 
in the State of Assam.
(2) The details regarding name, location, jurisdiction and 
Infrastructure of the said University are mentioned in 
the Schedule appended to this Act.

Repeal and 
saving
3. (1) The Assam Don Bosco University Ordinance, 2008 is 
hereby repealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any 
action taken under the Ordinance so repealed shall 
be deemed to have been done or taken under the 
corresponding provisions of this Act.

Assam Don Bosco University as envisaged under Section 6 of the Assam Private University Act, 
2007:-
1. Name of the University : Assam Don Bosco University (Sponsored by Don Bosco Society, 
Azara.)
2. Location of the University :  Location at Kamrup District, with its head quarter at Guwahati
3. Jurisdiction :  Extending over the State of Assam.
4. Infrastructure : (i) Land :  60 bighas,
: (ii) Built up Area = 16,000 sq. metres
12,000 sq metres at Kharghuli
4,000 sq metres at Azara
(iii) Endowment Fund
Rupees Two Crore in Government Securities
(iv) Library
Area = 531.49 sq. metres
Volumes -  5401
(v) Laboratories
Area = 360 sq. metres
Equipments for Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Mechanics
(vi) Workshop
Area = 550 sq. metres
Equipments = Lathes, Grinders, Smithy, Welding, Sets, 
Carpentry & Fitting Section
(vii) Computer Laboratory
Area = 183.62 sq. metres with 64 computers, 3 server,
4 printers
(viii) Computing Centre
Area = 45 sq. metres with 30 computers
(ix) Language Lab
Area = 45 sq. metres with 31 computers
(x) Back up Generator with a capacity of 75 KVA
(xi) Transformer with a capacity of 150 KW
(xii) Residentiai Facilities/Guest Rooms: 30 rooms at Kharghuli,
4 rooms at Azara
(xiii) Land for playgrounds, hostels, staff quarters.
