THE WEST BENGAL COMMISSION FOR BACKWARD
CLASSES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2018.
[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature. ]

Extraordinary, of the 30th April, 2025.]
An Act to amend the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993.
WuerEAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Commission for Backward io Act IClasses Act, 1993, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted in the Sixty-ninth Year of the Republic of India, by the
Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:β€”
Short title and 1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classescommencement.
(Amendment) Act, 2018.

The West Bengal Commission for Backward
Classes (Amendment) Act, 201 8.
(Section 2.)
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by
notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. For clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 4 of the West Bengal Commission
for Backward Classes Act, 1993, the following clause shall be substituted:β€”
β€œ(b) The Member-Secretary shall hold office for a term of eight years from the
date he assumes office, or until he attains the age of sixty-eight years, whichever is
earlier.”.
