[The Uttar Pradesh Maharishi University of Information Technology Act, 2001]
STATEMENT FO OBJECTS AND REASONS
The recent scientific inventions and developments have
revolutionized the information technology and it has become necessary
to keep pace with them. Though a number of institutions in the State
are imparting education in informa tion technology but it was felt
necessary to have a separate University which could impart qualitative
education in that field. Since it was not possible for the State
Government with its limited financial resources, to establish such a
University, it was decided to establish the Uttar Pradesh Maharishi
University of Information Technology in private sector.
Since the State Legislature was not in session and immediate
legislative action was necessary to implement the aforesaid decision, the
Uttar Prades h Maharishi University of Information Technology
Ordinance, 2001 (U. P. Ordinance no. 14 of 2001) was promulgated by
the Governor on August 7, 2001.
This Bill is introduced to replace the aforesaid Ordinance.
