PROVISIONS) ACT, 19691

 [Passed in Hindi by the U ttar Pradesh Legislative Council on 
August 12, 1969, and by the Uttar Pradesh L egislative Assembly on 
August 30, 1969.   
Received the assent of the Governor on September 11, 1969 
under Article 200, of the Constitution of India and was published in 
the Uttar Pradesh Gazette Extraordinary , dated September 15, 
1969. ] 
 AN 
ACT 
to provide for the publication of authoritative texts in Hindi of certain laws 
originally passed in English and to amend the Uttar Pradesh Official 
Language Act, 1951. 
 IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Twentieth Year of Republic of India as 
follows :β€”  
Short title 1. (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Official Language  
(Supplementary Provisions) Act, 1969.

2. A translation in the Hindi language published under the 
authority of the Governor in the Gazetteβ€” 
(a) of any Uttar Pradesh Act, passed originally in the English 
Language ; or 
 (b) of any order, rule, regulation or bye -law issued in the English 
language by the Governor of the United Provinces or of Uttar Pradesh, 
under any law for the time being in force.  
shall be deemed to be the authoritative text thereof in the Hindi 
language.

of section 2

3. In section 2 of the Uttar Pradesh Official Language Act, 1951, 
the words, β€œwithin one year from the commencement of this Act” shall be 
omitted, and at the end the following proviso shall be added, namely : 
 β€œProvided that the State Government may by general or special 
order in this behalf permit the use of the international form of Indian 
numerals for any official purpose of the State.”

Repeal and 
savings. 
4. (1) The Uttar Pradesh Official Language (Supplementary 
Provisions) Act, 1968, is hereby repealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action 
taken under the said Act or under the Uttar Pradesh Official Language 
(Supplementary Provisions) Ordinance, 1968, shall be deemed to ha ve 
been done or taken under this Act as if this Act had commenced on the 
twenty-fifth day of January, 1968.
