WHER~AS it is expedient to provide for thc delegltion of 
the powers of District Collectors to 3[0fher Qliicers of the 
RevenueDepartlncnt ]rot bebw the railli pi' Deputy Collector] 
in the [State of l'ar1i:l i-iadu] ; 
BE it enacted in tila Seventh yea1 of tl~: Republic of India 
as fol1ows :- 
Short title I. (1) This Act may be called the '[Tamil Nadu] District 
' and Corn- Collectors' Powers (Delegation) Act, 1956. mencement. * (2) It shall come into. force oil such date as the

Proclamation, ~egulation, order, by-law, rule or other ins- 
trument relating to a matter enumerated in List 11 or List I11 
in the ,Seventh Schedule to the Constituf ion and havi~g in 
any part of the '[State pf Tamil Nadu'J the force of law.]

2[3. The State Government may, by notification, autho- Delega 
rize any officer of the Revenue Department not below the Powers Distric rank of Deputy Collector to exercise all or any of the colleot 
powers vested by or under aoy law i~ the District Collector 
and may, in like manner, withdraw such authorization : 
Provided that no authorization-under this section shall pre- 
vent the Disrtict Collector from exercising, in such cases as 
he deems fit, all or any of the powers exercisable by any 
other officer by virtue of the authorization aforesaid : 
Providcd further that where in respect of any case, the Dis- 
trict Collector exercises his powers, the officer authorized 
under this section shall not exe~cise his powers in respect of 
the same case.] 
4. Any order o^ *[the Officer of th: Revenue Department1 Appeals and revision. acting in exercise of the powers authorized under section, [ 
3 shall be subject to such appeal or revision under the rele- I 
vant provision of the 5[ law] as if it were an order of 
the District Collector.
