NOTIFICATION
The 12th June 2008
No. 7492—4-V—12/2008-FARD.—Thejob chait of veterinary stockman now designated as Live-
stock inspector was framed & issued vide letter No. 4100 (13)-CD-l., dated the 21st November 1961
in the erstwhile Planning & Co—ordination (CD) Department. During the long passage of time the Job
chart of the Livestock lnspectorsNeterinary Technicians has been more extensive and they have
been entrusted with minor treatment of animals. A iot of difficulties are being experienced by the
Livestock inspectorsNeterinary TechniCians as well as the Department in treatment of animais as
relevant Job chart of Livestock inspectors/‘v’eterinary Technicians to cope up with such extensive work
has not been framed yet, Recently the Veterinary Council of indie has requested to the State
Government to define the minor veterinary services in accordance with section 30 of Indian
Veterinary Councii Act, 1984 and the judgement of Hon‘bie Supreme Court of india in Civi! Wm:
Petition Not 4 of 2005.
Now. after careful consideration Government have been pleased to decide the foiiowing treatments
are to be treated as ”Minor Veterinary Services” which are to be undertaken by the Livestock Inspectors/
Veterinary Technicians under the supervision and direction of a registered Veterinary Practitioner.
Job Chart of Livestock Inspector
(1) To treat the sick animals and birds in clinicai cases under the supervision of a veterinary
docior.
(2) To conduct minor surgeries :ike abscess, hematoma and wounds
(3) To examine fecal sample through microscope. The preription will be made oy the registered
Veterinary Practitioners selecting suitabie Anathematic, which shail be dispensed by the
Livestock Inspectors/Veterinary Technicians.

(4) To attend the outbreaks underthe guidance of registered Veterinarians
(5) To perform tours to viliages/towns
(6) To attend Cattle show, Exhibitions, Calf raliies etc. to propagate the Animal Husbahdry activities
(7) To attend Livestock Aid Centres and Veterinary Dispensary
(8) Maintenance of registers and records
(9) Take up vaccination & submit reports and returns
(1 0) Implementing the fodder cultivation programme
(11) Supervising the work of attendant
(12) To be responsible for the Government buildings and articles in possession
.(13) To assist the V.A.S./Additionai V.A.S./Junior Veterinary Officer to mobilize the desired
co-operation and participation in Block Level Programme.
(14) To undertake pregnancy diagnosis without manipulation of ovary. However, in critical cases
the same may be referred to Veterinarian.
(15) Caring and management of stud animals kept at the centre and within the ambit of service
area.
(16) Attending the works related to poultry, sheep and piggery development programme
(17) Educating and advising the rural masses regarding modern Animal Husbandry practices
and motivate them to keep more productive domestic animals/birds and other Iivestocks.
(18) To advise the livestock and poultryholders regarding animal management, feeding and rearing
practices.
(19) To maintain the genera! correspondence and statistical reports pertaining to their institute
(20) To organize Animal Health Camps as per the advice of Veterinary Assistant SUrgeon
(21) To attend the urgent cases of emergency in nature
(22) Vaccination, castration by castrator, artificial insemination, dressing of wounds and such other
types of preliminary aid or the treatment.
(23) To undertake the required extension work in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sector
(24) Facilitate organization of co-operatives in A.R.D. Sector
(25) To perform other duties to be prescribed by Government from time to time
