Prea m ble. Whereas it is exp edie nt furt her to amend  the
Assam Co -op erative  L and  Mortgage Bank  Act, 1960, Assam  Act 
here inaf ter calle d the prin cipal Act, in the  ma nner 1 o f 1 96 1 ' 
hereinafter app earing ;
It  is hereby enacted in the Twe nty-sev enth  
Year of  the  Rep ublic of  In dia as follow s: —
Short  tit le , 1. (1) This Act may  be called the  Assam 
ex te nt  and  Co-operative Lan d Mortga ge Bank ( Ame ndment ) 
co mm en ce- A c t  197 6.

(a) “ B oar d” means the Board  of Directo rs of 
the  Central Mortga ge Bank and includes 
Managi ng Body of  a registered Society or by 
wha tever nam e such bod y is called but does 
not include the Adm inist rativ e Cou ncil of  the 
Society.

(b) “ Central Mortga ge Bank” means the  Assam 
Co-operativ e Central Lan d Mortga ge Bank  
Ltd. and includes any oth er registere d 
Co-operativ e Society notified by the State 
Gov ernmen t in this behalf.
(c) “ Mortga ge Bank” means a Co-operativ e Lan d 
Mortga ge Bank registered under  the Assam 
Co-operativ e Societies Act, 1949 and  includes 
any other registere d Co-operative Societies 
notified by the State Governm ent in this 
behal f an d adm itte d as a mem ber of  the  
Central Mortgage Bank.
