Preamble Whereas it is e>  pedient further to amend the Gau- 0^ c t 
hati University Act, 1947 hereinafter called the igj7. 
principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing :
It is hereby enacted in the Nineteenth Year of the 
Republic of India as follows: —
Short title 1. (1) This Act may be called the Gauhati Uni- 
and com - v-ersity (Amendment) Act, 1968.mencement. '  '
(2) It shall come into firce on such date as the 
State Government may, by nattfication in the official 
Gazette appoint.
Amendment 2. In sub-section (2) of section 83 and sub- 
of section section (1) of sect'on 8D of the principal Act, the 
8 9 . a n d  8 D  words “ for a second term only” shall be deleted of Assam Act
XVI of 1947.
