Whereasitisexpedientfurthertoamend theGuwahatiMetropolitanAssam
DevelopmentAuthorityAct,1985,hereinafterreferredtoastheprincipalAct,in Act XX
themannerhereinafterappearing; of1987
Itisherebyenacted.intheSixty-secondYearoftheRepublicofIndiaas
follows:-
1.(1)ThisAct maybe called theGuwahatiMetropolitanDevelopment
Authority(Amendment)Act,2011. .
(2) ItshallhavethelikeextentastheprincipalAct. ..
(3) Itshallcomeintoforceatonce.
2.IntheprincipalAct,insection5,insub-section(l),-
(i)fortheexistingclause(a)and(b),thefollowingshallbe substituted,. ,
namely:-
"(a)The ChiefMinisteroftheStateofAssamoranyotheremi-
nentpersonastheStateGovernmentmaythinkfit.tobe
appointedbytheStateGovernmentastheChairman;
(b) TwopostsofDeputyChairmanoftheAuthorityshallbe filled
upbynominationbytheStateGovenunentbysucheminent
personsastheStateGovernmentrnaythinkfit:
ProvidedthatwhenthereisnoCOWlCilofMinisters
intheStateofAssam,theStateGovernmentshallnominate
sucheminentpersonsasitmaythinkfit,astheChairmanand
DeputyChairmanrespectivelyoftheGuwahatiMetropoli-
tanDevelopmentAuthority;"
(ii)forclause(i),thefollowingshallbe substituted,namely:.'0
"(i)TheDeputyCommissioner,Kamrup(metro)Districtand
DeputyCommissioner,KamrupDistrict(ex-officio);"
