THE GAUHATI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION 
(AMENDMENT) ACT, 1989

Act
further to amend the Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 
1969 (Assam Act I of 1973).
P re a m b le , Whereas it is expedient further to amend the 
Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 19b9, here­
inafter called the principal Act, in the manner 
hereinafter appearing.
It is hereby enacted in the Fortieth Year of 
the Republic of India, as follows:— -
extent'and This Act may be called the Gauhati Munici- 
commence- pal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 1989.

(ii) It shall have the like extent as the princi­
pal Act.
(iii) It shall be deemed to have come into force 
on the twentyeighth day of April, 1989.
A m e n d m e n t 2. In the principal Act, in Section 425. for the 
425 of Ass«m words, “six years and six months” appear-

section (1), the words, ‘'eight 'years” shall 
be substituted.
