Collectors 1 of the revenu e of the zilas thr ough which the troops
are to pass of the probabl e time of their arrival within such
districts respectively ; togethet with information of the probab le
period of thei r arrival at the pa rticular places wher e s upplies may
be required, and a specification of the supplies whit,;h wi ll
be wanted. ·
The Commanding Officer will likewise notifv to the Collectors
the probable period of th · arrival ol the troops at the riv ers or
nalas in tersectinq their march, where boats or tempora ry !>ridges
may be necessary for crossing the troops and the baggage
att ached to them"'"' • 2
3. Fmt.-On receiving the not ifi< at ion mentioned in the Pro~edure
foregoing section the Collector .. sh,dl immediately issue the of Co l ~~c t or
net.essary orders 1 to the laHdholders, farmers, tahsildars or other on no

requisite preparations or boat s or temporary bridges, or other-

The Collectorr shall at the same rime depute a cred itabl e
:• 1 officer to accompany the troops th r ou~h his jurisdicti.Jn, for
the purpose of aiding in procuri ng the nece~sary suppl ies and
of facilitating the m:c-~rch of the troops.
It shall also be the duty of such *"' 1 officer to provide the
troops with whatever bearers, coolieJ, 5 boatmen, car ts and lml
locks may be indispen sab ly necessary to cn..t.l,le the troops to pro
secute their route.

In such cases, if the L!ollector 1 shall be satisfieci with the
cause <Jssigned by the claimant tor not having obtai ned the
prescribed certificate, he shall transmit the petition and stateme-nt
of the claimant to the officer commanding the troops by whom
the damage may be slated to have been committed, and shall
wait his reply thereto previously to determining whethe r or not
