ACT, 1970.

Act 
to amend the Transfer of property Act, 1882 
Preamble. Where s it, is expedient to amend the Tran sfer Central Act 
of Proper ty Act, in 1882, hereinafter call ed the IV of 1882. 
principal Act, in its applica tion to the State of 
Assam, in the manner hereinafter appearing ; 
It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-first Year of 
the Republic of India as follows :-
Sh.rt title, I. (1) This Act may be called the Tr&nsfer of 
extent aEd Property (Assam Amendment ) Act 1970. commeaee-- ' ment. 
(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Assam. 
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force 
at once. 
Amendmmt 2. In section 54 of the principal Act, in para 2, 
of sectwi. for the expression "by a registered instru ment" the 
c;n~r~~ Ahc~ following expression shall be substituted, namely :­
IV of 1882. 
"by an instrument registered in the State of 
Assam, notwithstanding anything con tained 
in the Indian Registration Act. 1908 (Act 
XVI of 1908) to the contrary ."
