(1) For the purposes of this Act, the State Government may, by notification, appoint officers or persons as surveyors of inland vessels and such surveyors shall be deemed to be public servants within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860). (2) The minimum criteria and qualifications for the appointment of surveyors, which the State Governments shall adopt in the appointment of surveyors, shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government.Open in Lexace · Ask the AI about this section
