(1) All offences under the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860) shall be investigated, inquired into, tried, and otherwise dealt with according to the provisions hereinafter contained. (2) All offences under any other law shall be investigated, inquired into, tried, and otherwise dealt with according to the same provisions, but subject to any enactment for the time being in force regulating the manner of place of investigating, inquiring into, trying or otherwise dealing with such offences. STATE AMENDMENT Manipur In section 4 of the principal Act, the clauses (a) and (b) shall be re-arranged as follows, namely:-- "(a) to such class or category of the members of the Forces charged with the maintenance of public order, or (b) to such class or category of other public servants of the Forces persons to whom the provisions of sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) apply) charged with the maintenance or public order, as may be specified in the notification, wherever they may be serving, and thereupon the provisions of sub-section (2) shall apply as if for the expression ‘Central Government’ occurring therein, the expression, 'State Government' were substituted.".
